In 2009 AMBS were appointed to provide the design review, site supervision, and project/cost management services for the new Basra sport City.
The project is expected to be one of the largest sports cities in the Middle East. The Basra sport City had an initial budget of $550 million dollars for phase one, which includes the main stadium with 65,000 person capacity arena, a secondary stadium with capacity of 10,000, four 5-stars hotels and supporting accommodation and facilities.
We invited London based specialists Baker Wilkins and Smith to partner with us in a joint venture to carry out the project supervision.
We worked alongside Abdullah Al Jaburi, a major Iraqi contractor, and American based Architects, 360 Architecture.
