Built in the 16th century, The Holy Shrine of Kadhimiya is one of the most glorious religious monuments in the country. This traditional monument has established the scale and proportion of the proposed new city.

The design philosophy we have adopted for the cultural centre is to express simple repetitive elements both internally and externally to achieve a sense of harmony and unity with the classical order of The Holy Shrine’s architecture.

The cultural centre consists of the following
facilities:
The Mosque
Library
Museum
Civic centre
Information Centre
Dining hall

The aim is to establish a true contemporary
Iraqi identity symbolising the aspirations
of Iraq and announcing to the world a
new époque in the rich history of Iraq as
a powerful, wealthy nation with a bright
future.
