The sports complex had suggested a spending budget of $750 million dollars, to provide a main stadium with capacity of 100,000 and a secondary stadium with capacity for 20,000, as well as other related sports facilities and five star hotels. We competed against a number of international teams and were short listed for Stage 2.

The building is wrapped in canvas with a defining edge of arabesque screens. The design allows the surrounding podium areas to be transformed into a public realm area. It utilises a dual access strategy, enhanced by its dynamic directional structure.

The entrances at ground level and the main entrance at concourse level access the heart of the spectator seating bowl, while other strategic entrances are designated to VIPs, competitors, officials, media and back-of-house areas. Entry to the stadium is reached by dedicated routes through the Sports City complex, that allow for a dramatic, processional experience when approaching the stadium.
