Basra Masterplan

The masterplan of the BDTI zone is intended to maximise the value of a strategically important site in South Iraq.

Using parametric design to determine the FSI areas, and ensure that buildings are orientated according to the most attractive viewpoints, we were able to work effectively and develop an intuitive model that would work to our set of parameters.

Expanding on the natural water routes and canals, the result is a diverse urban plan which successfully demonstrates a broad spectrum of accommodation types, commercial developments and infrastructure solutions within a cohesive, integrated model. The project naturally brings together authentic, traditional building typologies alongside contemporary high-tech design.
