This property in Kensal green required a full refurbishment of the ground and first floor. We proposed to convert the home from a fragmented series of dark rooms into an expansive and open plan ground floor, with divisions created through level changes and furniture.
A single wall that defines the entrance lobby is extends through to define the new staircase wall, whilst simultaneously widening the space under the staircase to accommodate a comfortable guest loo and cloakroom.
From the reception room there is a single path and visual destination point at the rear, allowing one to move through the property without crossing through any functional zones. The client wanted to create a some sense of division between the spaces, which is achieved with fitted furniture and level changes.
The minimal glass details for the side return compliment the clean open space, whilst the clients aesthetics are emphasised through the shaker style kitchen and crittal doors that open onto the rear garden.
