The unique spiral plan of the iconic spiral minaret of the Great Mosque of Samarra was taken as the starting point from which our design evolved, becoming an interlaced rotating configuration of four ramps – the main means of access to the stadium. The result is a perfect marriage between form and function, cultural heritage and innovative design.
The Stadium integrates modern building techniques, with in-depth knowledge of local environmental conditions, innovative sustainable design, with a contemporary appearance that represents the character of the Salah al-Din Province and Iraq. In collaboration with AFL Architects and Mott MacDonald.
